Ballroom is like McDonalds...

So hi! Long time since I posted something here...

Vacations are almost over... in fact, tomorrow is my last day of vacations... OH NOES!!!!!!!!!! But I think I'm ready for my second semester, I'll take less classes than the first one because I almost killed myself. Mainly, that was the main reason of my absence. Aaaand, I also want to leave time for my tango lessons... which are, at least for now, four days a week. Hey, I have to do that, I'm going to Argentina in September WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! And two of my teachers are leaving Costa Rica forever OH NOEEEEEES!

Aaaand, talking about tango... People on the internet can be assholes sometimes. Ok, first of all I must say I totally respect people who dance ballroom. I'm sure it's fun, requires effort and dedication, and etc. like any other discipline. But... I've discovered I feel a passionate hate for it.

OK PEOPLE, DON'T GET MAD AT ME!... At least not yet!

I'm going to explain why...

After watching several movies about ballroom (i.e. Shall we dance, Take the lead, etc.) and ending up by fatal error in a YouTube video of ballroom tango, I have many things to say. I insist, I'm not saying ballroom could not be a good experience... is that... Ballroom took latin rhythms, being passionate and rich of culture, and turned them into something similar to fast food. My latin pride doesn't let me enjoy this.

Please, please... if you're considering to take dance lessons... First visit someone who teaches the real thing... I mean, if you want to learn Tango, search Argentine Tango. The same with salsa, merengue, cha cha, whatever... Watch it, at least. Choose what you feel is richer... Latin dances are packages filled with culture, feelings, passion... Not with books of rules and strict, square basic steps.

Please make honor of our culture... not like a guy I unfortunately met via fighting comments on YouTube. The guy insists in the fact that argentine tango lacks elegance, passion and it's only a whore dance. Bummer. If I'm a whore, I'm proud of it. At least I can FEEL something.  

I don't pretend to offend someone with this. It's only my point of view.

Que vivan los latinos, carajo! Que viva la gente con sentimientos! Que viva el buen casadito!! Abajo con McDonalds (y similares!) A que es más buena una olla de carne que una big mac!
